What a Pain

So... I hurt my back. I did a number on it actually. I'd like to place the blame on my girlfriend Melynda but... I guess it really is all my fault.

You see... Melynda is relocating to Milton and needed some help and my van with a load of boxes. So... I am woman hear me roar and I decided to lift the seat out of the van on my own. I guess I wasn't as mighty as I thought I was. We did manage to take quite the load to her new home.

I keep telling her she broke me. Yesterday I went for a 1 hour massage to try to fix me up. Matt the massage guy seemed to work out a few of the kinks but I am still walking kinda crooked.
Lets hope that I'm all better by next week. Friday is the final move and this time we get to fill a U-Haul. Thank goodness we have the help of a guy this time round!

1 year ago today

Today I spent the day with my Mom.

We visited Dad's grave in the morning. Today marked the 1 year anniversary of his death. Neither one of us could believe that a year had passed already. Sometimes seems like only yesterday. Sigh.

From there I went to get me a massage for my poor injured back. We were a little early, so decided to pop into a nail place to see if they did waxing. After getting our eyebrows all fixed up - Mom decided to stay and get gel nails while I went over for my massage.

We both finished feeling and looking pretty good and followed it up with a nice pasta lunch!

I thought today would be a very sad one. It was... but we turned it around to be a great girly day. That's what Dad would have wanted to see!

So glad I could share this day beside my Mom!

WRECKERS

Jacob received a new pair of Sketcher shoes for Christmas from his Uncle Mark and Aunt Shelley. He was so excited that they almost fit and desperately wanted to wear them but I told him that they were for Spring.
It was a beautiful day today and the boys decided they would go outside to bounce on the trampoline for a bit. Jacob asked that since their was no snow on the ground if he could wear his "wreckers". It took me a bit to figure out that he meant his cool new "Sketchers".
You'll be pleased to know that "Wreckers" make you jump higher on trampolines and run really fast.
I think Sketcher has found their new spokes kid. What do you think?

I'm a sick Boog

Now that I am back on Canadian soil after a fabulous trip away and the busy holiday season has come to a close... I am officially a sick boog. If you are wondering what a boog is; it's not pretty. Believe me.

My nose looks like Rudolph. My legs ache. My eyes are black. My hair stickie uppy (even when hair goo is applied). I swear if I blow my nose one more time it will fall off.

So... here I am... drinking NeoCitran which seems to be having the opposite affect on me and making me unable to sleep, being all pathetic and looking for sympathy. Did it work?

Poor me.

CHRISTMAS #3

New Years 2008 was spent at my Mom's. It was a full house with both my sister and her family visiting from Ottawa and my brother and his family down from Peterborough. And of course we stayed too even though we are only 1/2 hour away.

We had a lot to fit into just a couple of days. Kate's 3rd birthday celebration. Christmas #3. A visit from Rudolph and a surprise visit from the sugar plum fairy. That's just a Grandma's excuse to provide more candy to her grandchildren.

All the kids get along so great. The boys are best buddies. Jake and Kate got along fabulously and even shared a bit! Meg kept all those boys in line.

We say 2 deer and a fox and witnessed a fabulous firework display over the river at midnight.

It was nice having everyone together. I can't think of a better way to bring in 2008!

San Antonio Express

We made the paper in SanAntonio.

On the night of the 27th there was a Pep Rally held along the river walk. While taking in all the activity a reporter from the SanAntonio Express approached Ron and this is what appeared in the paper the next day.

SAN ANTONIO

Norbert Wolf and Ron coach Falcon's football together and have become great friends. Since they both turn 40 this year... Joanne (Norb's wife) and I thought it would be great to plan something fun.

So... for Christmas/Birthday they received a gift of a lifetime. Over the past few months we have been arranging a surprise trip to SanAntonio Texas for our birthday boys. We left on the 26th and returned in time for New Years on the 30th. The trip included tickets to the Alamo Bowl, a tailgating party and more fun than you could every imagine!

SanAntonio was beautiful. The River walk is an entirely different world within the city. We experienced authentic Mexican cuisine, comfortable temperatures, margauritas under umbrellas and lots of football fun. We visited the Alamo and stayed at the fabulous Westin River Walk.

The atmosphere during the game was unbelievable. Penstate won the game over Texas A&M 24-17.

Thanks to my Mom, Auntie Karen and Nana and Papa for taking the boys while we away. It was a great few days and a wonderful way to celebrate Ron's 40th birthday.
