Camp and Campin'

The YMCA runs some speciality camps throughout the summer. The Environmental Camp at Springwater Conservation Area is one of them and definitely rates as Nick's favourite yet.

He enjoyed a week full of fishing, swimming, nature walks, canoeing, campfires and fort building. He learned a lot about the environment and even identified some poison ivy just before I stepped on it.

He was a little sad to see the week come to an end so I decided to reenact the camping environment as best I could in the backyard of the Ferwerda Four's. The boys had fun campin' out with Mom and eating their fill of roasted marshmallows and hotdogs. We even tried a new campfire recipe that Nick learned about this week. Chocolate covered digestible cookies make great smores. turn them chocolate side in and squish a roasted marshmallow in between. Yummy!

I must say... it wasn't the best sleep I have ever had but definately worth every uncomfortable moment. Anything for my boys. Absolutely anything!

Ooh, I'll have to remember that recipe for super-easy s'mores! Now you guys have to build a windmill or something...
