Garden of Weeden

At the beginning of the summer I noticed a strange plant growing in my garden. I could not determine whether it was a weed or a plant so I left it. As the summer continued, so did the growth of numerous other “unidentifiable” plants/weeds.

A tiny gourd was formed from a misplaced seed dating back to last fall. Then another gourd, slightly different in appearance and shape stemmed off from the first one. Both made home in the garden of weeden at the East side of our home. The boys have been given strick commands to not touch the forbidden fruit/vegetable.

There is no serpent in this story. Even he can not stake claim to my feeble attempt at covering my shear laziness. The fact is – I didn’t weed. At all. Not even once this summer. And because of this I now have a variety of gourd’s that will make a fine center piece display at Thanksgiving.

I am owning my lovely garden. How many of you can say they have gourds growing amongst the black eyed susans?

That's so cool. The only thing growing in my back garden is dust and stray bits of trash. Hey, it's been windy. ;)
