Practice Birthday

Tonight we celebrated Jake's Birthday with family. He doesn't actually turn 4 until next weekend - but we thought we'd take advantage of celebrating while my sister was visiting from Ottawa! The poor little guy was a tad confused and thought he would be recieving ALL his gifts today.

"Did you bring my presents Daddy?"
"No sweetheart, you get your presents from Mommy and Daddy and Nick next weekend," The the tears started to flow. "But today is party. Did you forget?" We would never forget you Jake. You are so lucky you get 2 birthday parties."

After the confusion and tears were cleared, present time began.

Grandma gave him a big box chuck full of art supplies. crayons, paint, craft stuff and more. "I love my glue Grandma. Thank you thank you."
Nana and Papa got him a fishtank of his very own. Very cool. Tyler and Adam, Uncle Kevin and Auntie Karen gave him Diesel the train and a book and Auntie Jen, Uncle Marc and the boyz gave him an adventure backback. He even caught a bee later on that night to put in the bug catcher.

Jacob was genuinely excited and VERY polite. After the last gift was opened he stood up and announced "Thank you everybody for my presents. I like them a lot." Too cute!

We finished off the "practice" celebration with ice cream cake, candles and Happy birthday singing.

I can't believe my little guy is turning 4 already. He's certainly ready but I'm not sure I am!
