Today the boys and I decided to head to Pinafore Park for Fire Muster Days. St. Thomas plays host to this very popular Labour Day weekend event each year. We have heard a lot about it but have never had the pleasure of attending. I decided that we would pack a picnic lunch, load up the wagon, lather on the sunscreen and leave the house in time for the parade. So... at 10:30 we headed out the door. But... "no wagon." It seems that during the evening "somebody" thought it would be a good idea to steal our red wooden wagon. Sad. Needless to say this was not a great start to the day. It did not however stop us from having an awesome day. The boys hopped on their bikes and peddled their little hearts out, making it to the park in a record 45 minutes... just in time to see the last half of the parade pass by!
Jake was not impressed that water was thrown overboard instead of candy. Nick however was right there to step in front of his little brother to protect him. They both enjoyed the many different fire trucks and of course the loud sirens!

We had a great time riding the rides... climbing aboard the trucks... eating snow cones... playing at the park and getting our faces painted. We even went on a hike, led by Nick, down the paths that led to Lake Margaret.

At 5:00 we decided to pedal home. I can't believe my little guys made it all the way there by bike without as much as whine.
It just goes to show you... things don't always go as planned. It's all in what YOU make of it that matters!
