Music to move

Jr. Kindergarten and Jacob are not seeing quite eye to eye. Tomorrow he will have a week of school under his belt and I honestly thought that he would be running to the door leaving me behind by now. It's not quite like that. In fact, it is like pulling teeth to get him to go and an emotional departure at bell time. He doesn't cry, but I can see the stress and emotion all over his face. He's like me that way. Wears everything on his sleeve.

Today was a beautiful day. We started our journey to school a touch late. Jake was dragging his feet, taking his time and really not wanting to go. So... I tuned him into my I-Pod with the promise that he would pick up the pace a bit.

He didn't quite get the concept that when you do not need to speak loud when wearing earphones. I believe the entire neighbourhood heard him singing away...

"Hey, hey, I, I, I don't like your girlfriend. I think you need a new one!"

Maybe I should download a few kid friendly songs, what do you think?

He did pick up the pace and danced himself all the way to school. The music helped on the way there but he was still a clingy, emotional and sad little boy at bell time. It didn't make things any easier when a different teacher was there to great them today. His teacher was home sick. They had a supply.

I seriously don't know how his day was. I've been working nights and he isn't too interested in sharing any details about school what so ever. When I got home from work tonight (this morning) I peaked in his room to check on him and he was sound asleep with the covers pulled over his head. Sad.

I hope that he will come around soon. The emotional good-byes every day are killing me. However, I know the day will soon come that he won't even want to be seen with me at school.

It could be that Jake is channelling Avril Lavigne. Poor little guy! Things will turn around for him soon, I'm sure.

In the meantime, may I suggest the Beatles for his listening pleasure? I think having him sing along to "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" would make the neighbours smile.
