A New Park

On the first day back to school the Mighty Machines started digging up the ground at The Optmist Park just down the street from us. Each day we passed by the kids would wonder... what are they doing? Jacob was not impressed that his favourite park was out of commission for almost a month. But... as they work started to come to completion, new play equipment started appearing. A large sign was posted last week advertising the grand re-opening of the park which took place today.

Jacob and I headed over around noon to join in the festivities. There was a clown, free hotdogs, a kid's band called "Make some noise" that was absolutely fantastic and the Reptile guy with his display of Lizards, snakes, bearded dragons and even an aligator. The firefighter's and Ambulance departments of St. Thomas were also there. The big pumper truck demonstrated how wet you can really get. There had to have been over 100 kids on the hill waiting to be sprayed. Good thing it was a hot day!

The new play equipment is amazing. They have added to saucer swings, a rock climbing wall, a funky balancing teater totter, some spinny things and new swings. The day was excellent! I expected to be there for maybe an hour but we ended up staying for most of the day and returned again after supper for more play time.

We live in such a great community. They always seem to be something to improve it and this is just one more example.

They had SNAKES at the grand opening? Eek! That would have made me run into the arms of...a fireman. ;)
