Once at the field Jacob found his buddy Alex to keep him busy while Nick practiced up for game time.
The St. Thomas Hawks were playing the Laurier Storm. The game went back and forth and by the second quarter the score was already 44-42. Nicholas didn’t seem to be into the game and got “lit up”. The picture below is my Nick on the ground. At least he has the ball!
Nick is number 21 and even after his forced fumble last week is still feeling a touch "unworthy" in the corner position. He may have a chance to play a different position over the next couple of weeks though... The Hawks star defensive player is out with sprained ribs. Personally I like the idea of him playing corner. He is 9. He doesn't need sports injuries before he even has the chance to go through adolescence.
Jacob and I left the game early leaving just enough time to get to church on time. It was nice seeing the Pritchett kids. They are so… adorable. Katie looked like a little Scottish doll. Andrew had a great time playing with Jake during the service. They played Bakugon; a new cartoon that Nick is into and has rubbed off on Jake. Jacob couldn’t take his hands off of Deanna. Smart boy because she is absolutely beautiful. I took a cute picture of the two of them. Notice the identical smiles.
After church we headed back to the football field to pick up Nick. They ended up losing the game 90-80. He was covered in mud and burrs from head to toe after playing in the field after his game. Ron’s game wasn’t until later in the afternoon so we left him at the field and the boys and I then drove to Grandmas making a stop at Wendy’s to pick up lunch.
After lunch Nick had a “rocket” bath in Grandma’s tub and once all cleaned up we made a trip to Michael’s. I returned to the football field (which by the way is on the total opposite end of the city to my mom’s) to pick up Ron and we went back to Mom’s for supper. By the time we sat down to eat it was close to 7pm but it was definitely worth the wait. BBQ’s ribs and steak and potatoes. Yummy.
We arrived home at 9:00. I got the kids to bed while Ron ran out to the grocery store to get a few necessities to start the week. Ron is now in bed. I am enjoying some wind down time, a cup of tea and some Harry Connick Jr. before heading there myself.
