Gobble Gobble

Today The Ferwerda Four celebrated Thanksgiving.

I spent the day cooking the traditional dishes that make Thanksgiving what it is. Turkey (fresh from Omega farm), stuffing (Mom's recipe), Swedish potatoes (as apposed to Canadian), squash (even though I'm the only one that will eat it) and cranberry sauce (not from the can).

Nicholas started with the decorations first thing this morning by painting a Thanksgiving banner. It turned out amazing... too bad the clean up job afterwards wasn't quite that amazing.

The boys picked the gourds from the garden of Weeden and created a beautiful centre piece for the table. I knew my lack of weeding this summer would pay off!

Before we got down to the good eats we went around the table to say what each of us were thankful for.

Jacob....

I am thankful for my Mommy and my Daddy and my Nicholas and the gourds and God and my Hamsters that are in Heaven and my Grandpa who is peaking down on us right now.

Nicholas....

I am thankful to have a family that loves me so much. I am thankful for all this yummy looking food. Can we eat now?

It was a yummy supper but most importantly a supper enjoyed with each member of the Ferwerda Four present. With work and football and life to interfere we don't always get the opportunity to be together.

Someone once told me that in the end all you've got is family... A message that holds more meaning than you could ever imagine.

And that is what I am most Thankful for... The Ferwerda Four!
